Outbuildings & Garden lighting and power
Whether for security purposes or simply to enhance the aesthetics of your home or garden exterior, there are many reasons why you might require outdoor lighting and power at your property.
However, outdoor lighting and power still falls under Part P of the Building Regulations law which requires that electrics are installed by a certified electrician to the latest IEE Wiring Regulations. For example, every cable, wire, socket, appliance and light used outdoors has to be protected by an RCD (Residual Current Device). An RCD is a fast-acting safety trip switch that reduces the risk of a fatal electric shock by instantly cutting off the power should anything happens to make power leak to earth. Any external power supply should also be installed with appropriate weather proof outdoor fittings.
